DEPA has the following broad applications :
  • Measurment of Elastic Properties of Materials / Products
  • Process Control
  • Quality Assurance & Bulk Inspection of Products (using GO-NO GO sorting). automation ready outputs.
  • Classification of Products
  • Testing of Effects of Various Processes (such as aging, freeze-thaw resistance, cyclic loading, etc.)

Applications of DEPA are discussed in greater detail for various materials / products below :

Abrasives : Determination of Young's Modulus of centreless grinding wheels, honing/superfinishing stones, crankshaft wheels, etc.; Quality assurance, bulk inspection & sorting of vitrified /resin/ shellac/rubber/plastic bonded abrasives.

Alloys : Measurement of elastic properties of alloys, effects of rolling, grain orientation, powder metallurgy, sintering process and nodularity of cast iron.
Cement & Concrete : Monitoring the effects of salt water immersion and cyclic loading; Assessing freeze thaw resistance.

Ceramics : Study of ceramic bonds, thermal cycling, optimization of bonds and testing of building materials on testing line.Composites & Space Age Materials : Studying fatigue damage, curing, aging and failure prediction of composites and light alloys for aerospace applications.

Graphite : Testing of full size electrodes and cores. Measurement of elastic properties of critical components.

Refractories :Thermal shock testing, performance prediction of critical components by measurement of elastic properties.

Rubber and Rubber Composites : Determination of Young's Modulus and damping at low strains.

Structures : Wire stiffness measurements, honeycombs, bonded materials and studying the effects of hardners.

Wood & Wood Products : Timber segregation, impregnation and bonding in relation to mechanical properties; Testing of chipboard products with or without laminates.
